Enter and View: Aldergrove Manor Care Home

Our report following a visit to the Aldergrove Manor Care Home in Wolverhampton, which provides provides general and dementia nursing care for up to 70 residents.

This visit was part of Healthwatch Wolverhampton’s programme to carry out a required number of Enter & View visits per year to collect the views of people whilst they are directly using services.

Summary of Findings

Authorised Representatives made the following recommendations:

  1. A full-time Activity officer provides a varied programme of activities for residents.
  2. The cook uses Dysphagia moulds for residents that can only eat soft foods.
  3. Staff and residents all spoke positively of the home.
  4. Thorough paper audit /record keeping.
  5. Home is a member of Sharing Provision and Caring Excellence (SPACE) to improve quality and share good practice. Meetings are attended by around 18 homes at Aldergrove.
  6. Residents with less dependent nursing needs access a range of themed lounges.
  7. Good practice observed and information displayed throughout the home, giving clear guidance to staff. These have been shared with other homes to adapt and use.
