Enter and View: Arbour Lodge Care Home

Our report following a visit to the Arbour Lodge Care Home in the Compton area of Wolverhampton, which provides residental care for up to 29 people.

This was an unannounced Enter and View visit which was conducted by Healthwatch Wolverhampton to observe service delivery - to see and listen to what is working well within the care home and what areas need improving.

Summary of Findings

Due to the design of the home it was difficult to navigate, there was no signage to direct you within the home. For example, there are no direction signs to tell people if they are on the first, second or third floor. Recommendations of this visit noted:

  • Introduce signage throughout the home i.e. dementia friendly signs easy to understand by all, visitors, family and friends and of course the residents.
  • Ensure cabling/extension cables are repositioned to reduce the risk of potential trips/falls.
  • Remove out of date paperwork and replace with new.
  • Invest in staff/volunteers for additional support around the home.
  • Signage - use 'out of order' signs, display appropriate signs and remove outdated.

This report was produced by the previous Healthwatch Wolverhampton service provider, Engaging Communities Solutions CIC.
