Enter and View: Wulfrun Rose Nursing Home

Our report following a visit to the Wulfrun Rose Nursing Home in the Bushbury area of Wolverhampton, which provides residential nursing and dementia care.

This was an unannounced Enter and View visit which was conducted in response to concerns Healthwatch Wolverhampton had received about the home raised by family members regarding the care of their relative in terms of personal hygiene, weight management and access to health services.

Summary of Findings

There was a negative comment about the carpeting in one of the resident’s rooms; it would be useful to know how often the home has a deep clean and if the carpets are routinely inspected. Recommendations included:

  • Signage about alternative parking areas outside the building as there are limited spaces for staff and visitors.
  • Clear signage about how to use the drinks machine in the cafe i.e. where to get tokens and clean cups etc.
  • Confirm whether each room had individual temperature control systems or air conditioning, as staff had to open a door to cool the room. Monitor the temperature in rooms and look into temperature control issues.
  • Use appropriate door stops to keep doors opened e.g. in lounge and dining area, armchairs were used to prop the doors open.

This report was produced by the previous Healthwatch Wolverhampton service provider, Engaging Communities Solutions CIC.
