We Are Here For You This Christmas And New Year’s

Christmas is usually a time of happiness and joy, however, for some in our communities Christmas is a difficult and lonely time of year. COVID-19 has reminded us all how important it is to have human interaction, and we know that this will create an added challenge to those who are feeling lonely at this time of year.

Unfortunately, people’s ability to go to functions and groups that would otherwise reduce the feelings of loneliness will be impacted by the pandemic and the restrictions in place. It is also highly likely that many more people will be feeling isolated and lonely during this year’s festivities.

Members of the Healthwatch Wolverhampton team are volunteering this Christmas and New Year, to be available for people who may be feeling isolated or lonely and want someone to talk to.

If you feel you would benefit from having someone to talk to over the festive period, please contact us. You can book a time slot from 5 minutes up to 40 minutes.

The team will be available on:

Christmas eve: 11:00am-3:30pm 6:00-8:00pm

Christmas day: 12:00-2:30pm and 6:00-8:00pm

Boxing Day: 11:00am-3:30pm 6:00-8:00pm

New Year’s Eve: 11:00am-3:30pm 6:00-8:00pm

New Year’s Day: 11:00am-3:30pm 6:00-8:00pm

“If you are feeling lonely or isolated this Christmas, we are here for you. There is no shame in feeling lonely or in reaching out to have someone to talk to.  We are a friendly bunch, and you are more than welcome to reach out to us and have a chat over a nice cuppa.

We are a small team, and we do not know how many people will want to have a chat with us, so you will need to pre-book your time slot with us. The maximum length of time you can book is 40 minutes. Depending on the demand, you may be able to book a chat on more than one date.

If you do not want to talk or are unable to communicate via a verbal communication, there is the option for a text conversation.”
