Bereavement Information Hub Criteria

Most people experiencing loss and grief will only require first-level informal support. People needing this level of support will be looking for general support and information.

Who is eligible for this service?

  • People who have been bereaved for 3 months +
  • People who do not feel the need for 1-2-1 counselling or therapy
  • People looking for the opportunity to share their experiences of loss and grief
  • People who want to meet others who have experienced similar
  • People who want to meet others and make new friends
  • People who are feeling lonely and isolated

*The service is not for people requiring 1-2-1 counselling or requiring crisis support.

 

Telephone Befriending Criteria

First Level Telephone Befriending service is designed to give support and friendly conversation to those who are not able to get out and socialise or who may have lost contact with family and friends.

Who is eligible for this service?

  • People who are affected by an incurable / life limiting condition
  • People feeling lonely and isolated
  • People in need of company and a listening ear
  • People who are housebound
  • People who have access to their own landline or mobile phone
  • People who speak Punjabi or Hindi and require a South Asian Befriender

*The service is not suitable for people requiring 1-2-1 counselling, crisis support or those who are deaf.

 

Signposting

Signposting usually takes place when someone has a new problem or enquiry.  Advisers also undertake signposting and discuss alternative sources of help which are identified during an initial call and linking people to other sources of support and organisations who can help them.

 

Who is eligible for this service?

  • A person who has a general query on where to access other local, regional or national services of support
  • A person who requires further information to link them to their community
  • A person who can receive contact details and have the ability in making initial contact themselves with identified services
