What do we want to know?

We want to receive feedback from Deaf and hard of hearing people who are experiencing communication challenges when using local hospital services.

Our engagement activities include case studies based on interviews with those who are deaf and hard of hearing. We are also running an online survey, collecting feedback in-person, and engaging with hospital staff to ensure we gather a comprehensive understanding of the issues.

We also wanted to follow up on our previous work with the Deaf community to find out if there have been any changes to local health services in Wolverhampton.

Why are we asking?

To better understand the experiences of those who are deaf and hard of hearing, we aim to explore their specific communication needs, the barriers they encounter, and the improvements they believe should be implemented. Additionally, we want to gather insights from local interpreters and caregivers who support Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.

How will your feedback make a difference?

We will analyse the feedback we gather to develop a series of recommendations to advise those responsible for local hospital services on how to develop and improve communivcation support for Deaf and hard of hearing patients.
